    Default Ewenny pottery shaving mug.

Just bought myself a rather nice shaving mug.
Took the family out to a village in South Wales called Cowbridge. It is very old and has lot's of old pubs and little shops. I should have got some pictures, but you can Google some I'm sure.
Anyway, on the way back home we decided to call in at Ewenny pottery (The Oldest Pottery in Wales - Wikipedia has an article about it) as it is owned by my dads friend and best man at his wedding. My dad met Alun (the owner) at University in the swinging 60's. My dad went on to teach, and Alun took over the family pottery.
While having a look around what had been made, I spied a large cobalt blue shaving mug. It is handsome! £15.50 (about $31)

    Their site www.ewennypottery.com

    They will do special orders
Anyone want to see a picture??????????

Is that place still going? I used to pass it regularly with my parents on the way from Cardiff to Porthcawl when I was a lad, about 45 years ago!

Lets see your Ewenny mug then!

£15 is a good price for something original and unique. Let us know how it keeps the heat when you use it. I've only ever used a little bowl, so excuse my ignorance, but what is the smaller holey-bit for by the main mouth?

    (apol for awful description!)

I did my wifes legs just now, but I used my old shaving bowl. I float that in the hot water, and it keeps the lather warm.
I was expecting the Ewenny mug to be £20odd before I checked the price. £15 is ok for something handmade and very nicely made too.
I had a Wade mug the same sort of design off my grandad when he died, unfortunately it was smashed when we moved to this house (and the china shaving mirror I had off him)
I'm not shure what the form is when using the mug,but there is a draining hole between the small holder for the brush and the main soap holder.

I believe the cup on the front of the mug is a place to hold your brush while lathered up.
It looks pretty substantial and I would not be surprised if, after preheating the mug it retains enough heat to keep your lather and brush warm.
    It looks very nice.

Hmmm What is the size. Any chance of a pic in hand? AND ...with the brush parked in the caddy
    Cheers
