This is a boar brush. The picture is correct, but the description is wrong. See this thread at B&B. I'm surprised the vendor has not fixed the web page. They are either dishonest, lazy, or clueless about the products they are selling.

    GREAT

I just called Dr. Hulda, and they really are quite helpful, but he didn't know anything about the mix-up, he told me he'd get back to me today...unfortunatley my order of 13 brushes has already shipped

I'll let you know if I hear today

He told me that he didn't have any brushes in the warehouse to look at, so he called the supplier and the supplier confirmed that they were boar. He told me that he thinks that they went on the Delong website which opens to Silvertip brushes and copied the description.

Guess I'll see if I can be added to the list as well. Bummer.

While on hold to verify my order I heard that you can get a 2% discount on orders if placed online by typing coupon code CWO in the order form. I was excited that I not only could get a great deal on brushes but also that I might be able to get a discount on the price as well.

Once I get the brushes I'll probably send them back, but on the other hand I may keep them to use as PIF items. At half the cost of a VDH brush it's still a bargain as long as we know that it's a boar brush and not a badger.

I need a handle for a nice 24mm silver tip knot I bought. Ill grind out one of these I guess to fit the knot into.

I said I'd do a little review of this brush when I got it.

So here it is. Keep in mind that I have never used a badger brush. I now have two boars that sit on sink and see use in rotation, this one and a more expensive Bass brand brush.

This brush has bloomed very well for a boar, and really holds water well too. This is probably one of the best boar brushes I have used, and even with shipping it is one of the cheapest.

Now that this is advertised correctly on the Website I would give it a ten as the perfect entry level brush, or as a great brush for those of us who prefer boar.

When compared to my Bass brush, it is much more dense, and a bit scratchier, while holding more water, and having a much bigger bloom. Compared to the Burma Shave or the Van der Hagen brush, well.. There really is no comparison, this one is better made, denser, bigger, softer, all around a better brush, for about $5 shipped.

Bottom line: At this price point, there is no brush that is even close to as good as this one. At twice this price point, there is no other brush close to this one. At three times this price, this brush would still be very competitive in the category of top quality boar brushes.

With a brush like this at this price there is absolutely no excuse for a guy to still be using his fingers. Give up a latte and get a good brush.
