Blankity-Blanks Silvertip Knot users; your thoughts please
From what I can tell, Turchetta's site was toast the last time I checked.
I've been thinking of pulling the trigger for awhile now on getting some silvertip knots to go into a few old brushes I'm restoring.
Can those who have actually purchased and used the SILVERTIP knots from Blankity-Blank comment on quality? Shedding if any? It would be ideal if anyone has experience with the Blankity-Blank silvertip knots AND silvertip brushes from known vendors. It seemed recently that someone was skeptical that the Blankity available knots could be in the same ballpark quality wise to some of the known and respected and very expensive brushes.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The link I had bookmarked gets me nowhere no matter what variation I use. Does anyone have a valid link for Turchetta?
Thanks.

Thanks guys. Now I can amend my original post question:
Can anyone comment on silvertip knots from EITHER Golden Nib or Blankity Blanks and the quality of the knots? Shedding? Comparison to known pre-made brushes that utilize silvertip?
Thanks

Thanked: 351Chris,
I've not purchased knots from either source, nor do I have any reports regarding shedding. I have read reviews of brushes made with the blankety blank knots and they are apparently quite soft but of course it all depends on how they are sized to, and mounted in, the handle. Personally, if I had a handle or two that I wanted to refurbish for myself and wanted to have quality hair in them, I would simply send them to Shavemac or speak to the fine folks at Rooney or Vulfix/Simpson to see if they would oblige you. I'm pretty sure I've read that both of those companies will take on such projects and Shavemac of course has the service listed right on their website.
Shavemac, Vulfix/Simpson and Rooney have their own people who grade and hand tie the knots for their brushes, they do not import ready made knots as far as I know.
If you're just wanting to try your hand at it and you're not that concerned with the handle as far as a family heirloom or something like that, then I wouldn't even worry about it... after all, it's only $25 for a 28mm knot, hardly a hugh sum of money when speaking of brushes in that size.

Good point, Christian. I'll keep you posted on one of my projects. For once, not HAD related.

You can use it for lots of stuff, let's say you were looking for quadriplegic strippers: http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=...egic+strippersLast edited by Ben325e; 11-30-2008 at 04:20 AM.

Thanked: 351Ben,
That comment above was a "tongue in cheek" remark to ChrisL as I like to rib him whenever I can. And for the record, I prefer to use Scroogle Scraper at Scroogle.org (WARNING,please do NOT go to scroogle.COM as it is an entirely different site! ) vs. going directly to Google but that of course is a personal choice.
