Classic shaving scuttle.
Anyone with any experience on this one?
I would like to try shaving with a scuttle, and this looks like a nice starter.

Thanked: 13245These look like a Vintage style scuttle, where the water inside is for the brush to sit in until you use it to make the lather on the soap sitting in the top portion... They are more designed for people that lather on the face, than to keep lather warm in like the Moss styles of scuttles... I have a vintage scuttle that belonged to my Pops that I use now and then when I am felling nostalgic...

Thanked: 13245Yeah pretty much my friend, they were invented way back when hot tap water was a true luxury... So ya filled the bottom with hot water from the stove and went to shave...

That is the one I bought. It is very nice and on the weekend mornings I will use it. The brush gets nice and hot which in turn makes the lather hot. But you are right having a sink does decrease it's need. I don't have time during the week to boil water and then use it so as a time saver I build the lather on my face directly.

Thanked: 271I bought a Moss-type scuttle from Schwarzweisskeramik and it does a real nice job of keeping the lather warm. I love it on these cold winter mornings.
