MAY THE SCHWARZ BE WITH YOU!!!
This is my new SCHWARZWEISSKERAMIK scuttle that arrived yesterday! It is probably one of the best acquisitions I have ever made! The brush and lather stayed VERY warm through the whole shave. That was the best shave I have ever had! Warm lather is SOOO much better than normal it's amazing! Thanks to Ansgar for making such a wonderful scuttle! Now I wish I would have to shave two or three times a day!

That's both very cool conceptually and ascetically! How does it work and could you please provide a few more angels of the mug?

Will do!
The scuttle is a jacketed, ceramic scuttle. There is a chamber to put water in.
You pre-warm the scuttle by pouring warm water into the spout on the top. You can also warm the soap by placing the lid in the scuttle with water. You let it sit for about 5 minutes or so. (That's the free soap lid you get also on the side). When you are ready to make your lather, pour out the warm water and fill completely with HOT water. Then you load your brush with your favorite soap (mine is Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood), place a dollop of cream in the bowl and stir and stomp the soap and cream until you have lather, not suds but lather, takes about 2-3 minutes. You end up with a ton of warm creamy lather that is a true pleasure to use. It's almost a crime to take it off your face it feels so good!
The soap lid you can fill by either grating your soap and packing it into the lid or melt and pour your soap into the lid. Here is the site to order. They are alot of money, but IMHO, worth every cent!SCHWARZWEISSKERAMIK Check 'em out, they have a nice assortment and Ansgar is one of the nicest guys you want to meet and will make sure you are taken care of! Hope this helps! God Bless all!

I'm really getting to like these the more I read about them! Could you tell us what size you bought and what size brush you use? Any problems with room for lathering?
It seems the process of using these bad boys is to preheat them before showering and then to refill with more hot water to make your lather after the shower. I might mention also that the use of near boiling water on the second reheat tends to dry out the lather, as some folks are claiming.
I was wondering then if one couldn't do this whole process before showering to give the lather the full shower time to really warm-up? As for the drying out of the lather, wouldn't a ceramic lid prevent the loss of moisture through evaporation, thus eliminating the drying out of the lather. And if the lather were to break down during showering, wouldn't a swirl or three bring it right back still retaining all the great heat from my pre-shower idea?
Just a thought.

I have one of these and love it! One of the best shaving investments I've ever made! Mine holds 3 cups of water. Stays warm a loooooooooong time!
You're not supposed to put too-hot water in to start--the area where the scuttle is filled (the mini-basin) expands faster than the main body of the scuttle and can crack if you heat-shock it. Use very warm tap water (not hot enough to burn you) to start, then you can add hotter water for the subsequent filling.

Thanked: 132Now that is a very cool scuttle setup! I bet it does keep the water hot longer...very thick.
Thanks,

Not sure of shipping depending on your local, but Mama Bear's carries these, where I picked mine up at. Fantastic product BTW.
