I only have the Schwartzweisskeramik (which I love) so I can't comment about the others. Mine is a one-piece scuttle. Since nothing but water goes inside, I've never worried about cleaning it, but the maker does say that you can clean it by putting a denture cleaning tablet inside.

Can you tell I was proud of it when I got it? I couldn't wait to build the first bowl of lather in it. It sits proudly on my shaving shelf in the bathroom, and NO ONE touches it but me.
