Nice brush and stand. Boar brushes are great in their own sense. They are stiffer than badger hair, but both have good water retention qualities.

Talking I only bought new starting out

So I didn't end up scratching my head questioning variables. Knowing I had quality tools, so I focused on technique and got straight shaving down quickly. If I had questionable tools, my progress up the learning curve would have been very slow as I would not have focused on my technique and questioned other variables.

Another reason I like new is because I know that I am caring for it properly on day one and they are performing for me as they should. Now that I have experience with the way these tools should work, I can venture off into the second hand market and make better decisions.

Very nice find!! I'm sure it will clean up just fine. The dish washer sounds like a good idea. A good soak will may also help.
