    Default silvertipped boarbrush with stand

    * super badger hair
so today i was looking through the local pawnshop, and i ran across a beautiful, sturdy super badger brush, on a chrome stand.
the stand has a little arm with holes, the only thing i can think it would be for is the double sided safety razors, the ones that look like gillettes.
there both in great shape, a little crusty, its been used, but nothing that wont come off.
it was definitly well cared for. the bristles seem sturdy and Much softer than the "pure boar" brush i got at the beauty shop.
    it was only 10 bucks.
its very similair to this, Razor, Shave Brush & Bowl Universal Holder
but instead of one large loop on the back, it has 2 smaller ones. also mine is not for a bowl underneath. but otherwise identical
the brush looks pretty much like this one, but maybe a little larger

i think i got a pretty good deal

the more pics i look at, i dunno if its "super" or what... it is super soft and kinda fuzzy
im using a webcam, so it doesnt pic up the grime as well as a good flash camera
but all the red spots were like coated in margarine, it was all dirty and crusty, all the nooks especially were just crammed with a buttery wax.
    same with the brush.

i used the swabs and alcohol to get the gunk off, then the soap on swabs to lather up all the grimey crevices, the tooth brush too, gently, then i used wet swabs to clean up the lather, wiped dry. then i used the oily rags, to buff it up and get any remaining soap/alcohol off, then i buffed with dry rags(soft toilet paper)
(for size, the smaller rings in back are a hair smaller than a dime

the cam kinda sucks, but i can assure the in person difference is drastic.... anything that looks imperfect is just stuff in the reflection
not a bad 10 dollar investment i think
theres a few scraggly hairs, should i trim them or leave them?

I would bet a pretty penny on it. The light parts look a bit too blonde for badger, in my opinion, and the hairs seem pretty thick. And the way the knot looks a little crazy from above? Looks like boar to me!

And there's nothing wrong with that!

    ok cool.
    * and thats a bad pic of it, its pretty uniform and puffy, that pic makes it look kinda mishmashed
should i trim the little scragglys that stick out? or try to crimp the hair back in to palce? or just ignore it

It's all up to you, of course, and how much it bothers you. Boar does tend to get pretty big as it gets broken in, so it's nothing unusual. I would avoid clipping personally, but that's just me.

    It's a WONDERFUL score!
Congratulations. May all your shave purchase be so good

If all the grime isn't off the stand....You may want/try to put the stand and brush in the dishwasher...No heated drying and no soap.

    Boar? Badger?

I love em both...Between you and I the good Boar brushes are superb...

    Tom
