Probably would make a difference. I have a Schwarzweisskeramik LK scuttle that holds nearly 3 cups(!)--keeps my lather warm for a loooooooooong time.

I chose the DB scuttle over the GP because the DB had 12 oz water capacity. I didn't think the GP held enough water to do the job well. The German one was even bigger, but it looked too factory made to suit me.
