Thanked: 1262I am getting ready to join a very large asian family.... They wont buy anything made in china(well where possible).
I have had good luck w/ items from china for brief periods of time. The last copy i bought was a movado watch when i left mine at home. lasted about 2 days before it literally fell apart on my wrist.

As for brushes: I got mine from a cosmetic shop (Douglas), for about 8 U$D.
It's a super badger with faux ivory handle, and made in china...
So, it's not impossible to get a badger brush for little money. This one for this money is probably not a silvertip, but You never know...

I have two of those Chinese brushes from Virtual Village. Bought the first a couple of years ago and the second a couple of months ago. I wouldn't say they are silvertip but they are easily Best.
I have brushes from Kent, Shavemac, C&E (not the cheap ones), Meule, and a Badger & Blade special from a few years ago. Guess which brushes are my go tos?
Apart from the Shavemac, the two Chinese brushes are my favourites. They've hardly lost a hair. They are great with soaps and creams. Not too firm, not to floppy. My two have plastic handles, a bit chunky but brilliant for the cash.

I'd say that 95% of all badger hair comes from China now--it's illegal to hunt badgers in Europe. There is some coming out of India, but mostly China.
Meaning, of course, that you still bought a Chinese brush, with an American name.
I'm just guessing, but that's probably for "political" reasons, right? Other Asian countries don't seem to get along well with China. All that "we're eighty gajillion times bigger than you AND we gave you your culture and history" stuff tends to grate on one's nerves, I believe.

Thinking about buy a Chinese ebay silvertip brush
and I came across this thread... I have to agree
"For what its worth I have always had good luck with products from china. I have great faith in the Chinese ability to take any product at all, copy it and sell the copy back to the original market at half the price of the original. Most recently I have found this to be true with the Dinosaur and Super Dinosaur double edge razor blades. My question to the sales person is "what is his product a copy of?" If I like the product that he is copying then I would be willing to buy his product, becuase of my experience with Chineese copies."
The Chinese are incredible at making copies it is within their culture and they have been doing since before many civilizations had even begun.
Now the big question.
Has anyone actually bought the silvertips from China / Hong Kong and are there any reports on them? Would love to hear from someone who has.
