Extremely hot water (boiling) is bad for your lather and skin. Scuttle is to keep what's warm, warm. Thus to make it boiling will not be beneficial. Or so that is how I understand it all.

    So true Danny,
Im just used to the more graceful porcelin scuttles. Although i like the coloring on my dirtybird, its round, squat and fat...definately a case of funtion over form, imo...kindof like great aunt Phylis. lol

    Thanks,
    Mac

I was curious if anyone else had one of these, or something similar. Sometimes when i have the time i will boil water in a kettle and use it to keep my lather warm. Im just worried that it could cause problems and make the scuttle crack or something. Never really used one before so im not sure how much i should fill it up.

Also, ive been wanting something black to make lather in because i think it will give me a better perspective as to how thick or watery my lather is as im mixing it

I have one of the Swarz scuttles. The way I found that works best is fill it with hot tap water first while your showering, and leave it in a sink full of hot tap water. Heat up some water in a microwave, but not boiling, while in the shower and fill up the scuttle with the water from the micowave. If you get it to hot, the lather does break down and dry up. No fun then! But the scuttle works great! One of the best purchases I've ever made. You'll love it! Take care and God Bless!

Did you get the large or small? Is the small one big enough to bowl lather with a standard brush?

I want to get one from Mama Bear, but I want all-black and they only have small. Otherwise, I'll end up having to pay shipping from Germany.

    thx

I use my scuttle every day when I shave.

    Scuttle Tip:

I use steaming hot water from the faucet and pre heat the lower bowl and the upper bowl while showering. When out of the shower, I take the brush and soap it and lather on the face or in a lather bowl. Then I empty the scuttle and refill the lower bowl with steaming hot water. Then I put just a little water in the upper bowl and set my brush in it. Talk about keeping warm..........very nice!!
