The pure badger gave me a great lather straight on my face but the silver top seems very dry and needs dipping in water to get a lather that is not even half as good as the so called lesser brush. I haven't changed anything regarding lather technique so I'm wondering if the silver top requires a diffent technique to the pure. I must say though that the silver top feels like wiping silk across my face.
I haven't had any issues. Do you build your lather in a bowl or directly on your face?

It is definately softer than any other brush I have used

    Sly,
I normally lather straight on my face. I have been thinking about it today and I am wondering if the silver top isn't hydrating enough in my skuttle. The knot is far larger on the silver top compared to my other badger brush, and that may be the problem. I use a soap, you? And yes it is absolutely smooooth and that is why I want to find out what I am doing wrong.

Okay, I soak my brush in a Ikea bowl that we had kicking around for a good 5 mins while I shower. Then lather in the bowl.

I am using Mama Bear's Unscented Shave soap or Mama Bear's Awakenings Shave soap if I need a kick in the morning

    What soap are you using?

    Sly,
I have know idea what soap I use, got it from a local shaving shop, cost all of 10 bucks so it has to be the best stuff!!
I think I'll try a bowl, and maybe some better soap,,

I was using some David Jones branded Metholated shaving cream when I started found that lathered up really well.

But, I think the bowl really helps too. The one I am using is like a $2 thing from Ikea.

    Smile Oh dear

My My, amazing what happens when you load the brush with twice as much soap, seeing as it has twice the sized knot as my other brush. Finally getting back to a good lather. Have to try the bowl next.
