Thanked: 0Best places to buy badger knots?
Can anyone offer some places to pick up badger knots for putting in old brushes (or newly turned ones)?
Also, how can you tell what size the bottom of the knot will be- the part the you'll be inserting and gluing into your handle?

Thanked: 235This is the place where I buy my knots for brush replacement.
badger hair shaving brushes and knots, wholesale pricing
The size of the knot is the diameter of the base of the knot. Just measure the diameter of the hole and select a knot just a tiny bit smaller. You can also use a file and maybe even a small chisel to enlarge the hole slightly.

Thanked: 7If your turning them, your best bet is to wait until you have the knot. Then you can measure the base and get a perfect fit. I have one knot that I never even glued in. The hole is a perfect fit. It seems like they all vary a little bit.

I just bought a wonderful silver tip bader hair knot from these folks: Fountain Pen - Antique Pen - Vintage Pen - Fountain Pen Ink - Penworks AZ
I actually bought it on eBay for 19.00 + shipping. But, it is from those folks.~~ Vern ~~
