    Default Awesome Brushes on Etsy

I bought a brush from this seller for Christmas for my boyfriend and it was absolutely beautiful. They are handmade, hand lathed... just gorgeous. Very high quality, soft bristles and very reasonably priced.

See here for a similar one that I bought. He has all different ones listed. Tell him I sent you

Awesome! Since you have it, what's loft and knot? What's his feedback regarding its craftsmanship, lather ability, tip softness, bristle/hair stiffness, knot density and overall impression? Thanks Maedchen!

He didn't mention the knot size or anything like that. I asked but he was unsure whether the brush hair was classified best, premium etc.

As far as what I can see it is a fairly large knot. The bristles fanned out to about 2 inches and about an inch if held together. The brush was extremely soft at the tip, and seemed not stiff in the body, but not like it was falling over either, medium on that I would say. It didn't lose much hair, and did lather very well as far as we could tell. Overall the craftsmanship is superb. The brush is very solid, well made and wonderful to hold and behold. This guy knows how to make a quality brush. No blemishes.

You say it didn't lose that many hairs. How many is not that many? Is it losing a few each time he uses it? Can you pull them out pretty easily?

It's really hard to judge what knot size is on screen. I don't really fancy large knots-small to mid size work best for me. To each his own.

How much hair was lost upon initial use or even after it was broken in?

he says it doesn't. Just maybe one or two when he uses it, but he hasn't been using it for very long yet, just since christmas. Didn't lose much the 1st time when I was watching either just one or two.

Rob says the base of the knot is about an inch he thinks.

I bought the sharks tooth brush. I bought it on 1/7 and received it today, 1/11. While the brush was in transit I was talking with the maker about ideas for other brushes. I asked about the knot, and he was unsure what that meant.

    He buys them from here
Shaving Brush-Badger Hair [ShavBrush-Badger] - $10.95 : Arizona Silhouette inc. - Suppliers of Eye Candy, Proudly Offering Exceptional Products and Resources for the Wood Turner

overall a nice person who has some skills with a lathe, which he uses exclusively. However he does not know a whole lot about brushes.

First impression was that it an extremely nice handle, not too sure about the actual brush. I was expecting a cheap knot, but it was softer than I expected. At first I only lost a few hairs, maybe 5. I washed it and thought I would use it the next time I shaved. I could not wait so I put it to soak while I decided on what soap to lather. I emptied my mug, to see that the all of the water had turned a purple color. I thought that was odd. So i soaked it again, and again. I thought I had gotten out whatever was turning the water purple, I started working a lather. My lather had a slight purple color to it, so I rinsed it again and put it to soak, again.

My expectations were low, I really liked the handle and was expecting a cheap brush. I've probably lost about 10-15 hairs each time I've soaked it, but they are easy to pick out. I'm currently on my 5th or 6th soak.

All of the problems I have with the brush are not his fault. With a bit of education and a better source for knots he can become an excellent brush maker.

That looks like the bristle I'd find in my girlfriends makeup brushes...

His handles are nice, maybe someone who's dealt with him could send him a link to the golden nib. They've got some nice knots there.
