Thanked: 0If you're having problems with irritation from using normal soaps on your face, it's most likely because they're too drying. They're stripping all the necessary natural oils off your skin. If you use a good moisturiser afterwards, you'll experience far less irritation and acne. A non-drying face wash is also a good investment.

One little tip. I have just finished my shave. I was lathering with Proraso, but on the second pass my eyes glazed the Dove soap bar on the washsink, and I remebered the post from the old yahoo group, where one member stated he was shaving with regular Dove bar. I swirled the brush over it for my second pass, and got GREAT lather. Nice, thick, and wonderfully lubricating and slick. This was (I think) Dove with exfoliating effect. You can get great lather from it, and I think from any other Dove bar. The only downside was it dryed a bit fast, but I don't remember if I added water to the brush for the second pass.
I am trying it tomorow, too...

Well I considered the options and between waiting for the international shipping and paying the extra brokerage fees and taxes I opted to just go ahead and buy a brush. I just soaked it in hot water and got that wet dog smell. Not bad, but funny. It's also not quite as soft as I had imagined. I guess I was dreaming of a silver tip. Either that or it'll have a different feel with the shaving cream which should arive any day from Colleen.
I picked up a cheap oversized mug from the dollar store too, which I'm sure I won't really like, but it should do the job until I decide what direction to go in as far as mug/bowl/scuttle goes.
