Rooney Genuine Silvertip Small, Style 2
I love every aspect of shaving, regardless of the which tools I use. And my favorite tool is the shaving brush! Here's my latest...
The Rooney, Style 2, Small Genuine Silvertip. It's not a big bloomer. This is what it looks like after one full week of exclusive use.
So I toss in a dollop of my Tabac shaving cream into the shaving bowl, and after about two minutes, I've got a brush that is loaded for bear(d)!
One thing I don't like is a brush that is "floppy". Well, maybe "moppy" is a better word, and while the Rooney does open up a bit to deliver the shaving lather, it does close up. This pic is after one pass. Unlike my Savile Row 208, it does not stay splayed open.
Here is the brush after two passes. As you can see, it is still loaded with enough lather to shave tomorrow!
The Rooney handle is a faux ivory with a light "woodgrain" texture appearance. The handle is 55mm, and the bristle is a 60mm knot. The handle is what attracted me to this brush. I like the "Simpson Persian Jar" style appearance. Unlike my Simpson Persian Jar, the bristles are a bit on the softer side. More density would have helped. Regardless, I have truly enjoyed using this brush, and while it will not be my "main" brush, it will certainly be in my rotation.

It amazes me that I have never paid more than 30.00 for a brush considering my horrible RAD, this doesnt include the 50.00 I just paid for a used brush...but anyway...Its funny how everyone has there own little sub-addictions within the shaving addiction...

Thanked: 346I've only got a few brushes, but my Rooney was worth every penny. I've got the small style 1 in finest badger (it's the same as lynn uses in his video, though he may have the medium sized version). It's a very fast brush for soaps, it only takes 15 seconds from the time it touches soap until the lather is ready and going on my face. Not floppy or moppy at all.

Thanked: 4942The Rooney's finest actually feels like a stiffer bristle to me and works great. Still very soft feeling. I was wondering how the other Rooney's felt?

Lynn,
Soft and luxurious. I would like to see this brush with just a bit more density as it is on the floppy side. I've not tried the Finest, since this same brush would have been over $200 vs. the $65 paid. Overall, I'm very happy with this brush. I'll give it a few days of rest and whip it back into the rotation.

I think brushes are one of the most rewarding aspects of the shaving ritual. Quality DOES make a difference, as with anything else. Brushes can also be one of the spendiest (is that a word?) aspects. Shutup Randy
