I'd take Don up on the offer to replace it. You could stand to do more harm than good by trying to yank it out. It would more than likely fall out in time, but honestly I wouldn't care to wait for it and worry something might be wrong. I had a brush that did something similar but it was the plastic collar holding it in place that was slightly loose. It was shedding too so it was a lost cause, so I yanked it out, and it was quite pathetic to see the knot. Just horribly done, and probably was the reason 2 other brushes I had fell apart. 1 fell apart after I had sold it, so just two that went on me. Said manufacturer was Boreal, but I don't see them getting sold anymore, but just figured I'd mention that. The only brush I've found I wouldn't recommend period. The quality just ain't there.

I got my replacement brush from SRD today. Considering I didn't buy it from them in the first place that's what I call customer service going far and beyond the norm.

This is exactly why I recommend SRD if someone asks where to get something shave related. I have had nothing but great experiences myself...
