No. I admit it was a new knot from TGN. Perhaps Omega has something different. I suppose it is an age-old deal to upsurp Mother Nature's finest! Here is an old nylon Rubberset I bought because I liked the fishing fly imbedded in the handle. The papers which came with it make some claims. Mebbe I will give it a go? Joe the Barber seems to have a fine head of lather there! (Scary Dude, ol Joe!)

The are the most funny looking thing that don't do squat!!!! I loaded up the brush in the store and held it in the bowl.......
waiting......... nothing. the sales clerk looked at me and said...... yup you guessed it.
You need to swirl the brush around to make the lather.
I looked at him and said "well dont you do that with a regular brush"? He said the vibration makes the lather bigger just like the vibration on his mach 3 makes the shave better!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!
I quietly showed him some of my SOTD pics from the IPHONE and told him if he wanted to keep his job that he might want to learn what wet shaving really was....

This is a strong prophetic statement. However, I cannot disagree. The high-end synthetics are nothing like what I have played with at AOS. These are a step up and serious contenders worthy of consideration. My data points are limited to Omega right now, but I am certain that Muhle and others must be approaching the quality of a badger. By the way, this baby is a sopper, holding so much water than I must shake it out. I have about 5 shaves completed with different creams and the results are the some. UBERLATHER BIG TIME!

Hello to All,
One of the best (for me) synthetic brushes I have used was the cheapest - the Vulfix Nylon.
It's fibres are refreshingly plain white (not dyed to look like critter hairs), and proudly bears the text 'Pure Nylon' on it's handle
Now this brush cost me 10x less than my Taylors Synthetic, and whipped the Taylors a*se big time performance wise
I am tempted to try one of the new Muhle synthetics.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

I have a vintage Fuller synthetic that does a really good job. It's not quite up to the level of a quality boar or badger, but it's close.

I use the omega 10009 I think the number is? cost around about £10 and its my favourite brush by far, holds water like a camel and lathers in 30 seconds! MWF absolutely loves it. loads of backbone but super soft at the same time and great value, I actually use it to wash my face in the morning because it does a great job as a scrubbing brush as well.

Here is an actual picture of the fibers in my Mühle HJM 21mm Black Fiber brush, showing the curling and forking of the fiber strands. They do not have a "permanent wave" heat-pressed into them, like the New York Shaving Company brush I have. I don't very much like the heat treatment, as I think it is very artificial looking and the brush is too stiff to use comfortably for face lathering, at least for me.
Note: The reddish tint of the fibers is not visible in normal light, and is caused by the back-lighting used to obtain this photo.Last edited by Codfish; 06-29-2012 at 11:26 PM.

With all this new fangled technology they should come up with a new razor also. one that is dosposable. Maybe multi bladed...
cause new, synthetic, and disposable is all the rage.
