Hello, Im finally ready to get a premium brush and take my shave to the next level as i just have a cheap synthetic badger brush. Just looking for some suggestions and prices, really im looking for a quality of lather brush purely. I was looking at the AOS badger brush but i'd like something a little more flashey looking to add to my collection.

Well when you say premium what do you mean? Do you mean top of the line?

You need to buy the type based on the characteristics of the brush and the qualities you want in a brush along with handle size and brush size and shape. Once you (we) know that we can help you better. There are many outfits selling brushes as well as independent types and all kinds of sizes and grades. it can be mind boggling.

Check the classifieds. I think you'll find what you're looking for.

Well my price range is in between $80-150, I am most interested in all around versitile brush for everyday shaving and as for handle size i've only ever had your standard sword/omega cheap brushes so im open to any and all suggestions and to hear who likes what and why and i understand its boggling which is why I brought it here for some input as I was completely overwhelmed when looking unguided.

I like the Thater two bands best of all. That could change but they've become my favorite out of Rooney, Simpson, Shavemac .... Plisson. Just IMHO.

Do you find handle size makes a big differance in making a lather? i find the smaller handles tend make my wrist tired when using certain creams, though that entirely could be because of the low quality of brush im currently using

Size of handle, knot and loft are very personal. I tend to like a 48 to a 52mm loft with a 23 to 26 knot. A medium to long handle. The Simpson Polo handle is really nice that way. The SRP Limited Edition Thater has a long handle and is very user friendly IME.

There is a SRP thater in the classifieds, I may think about picking it up. I havent really read much on the difference between badger and boar only that I was taught that boar isn't worth looking at really. Any thoughts?
