Thanked: 18Black Badger?
Hi, does anyone has experience with black badger brushes? I have heard that they have stiffer bristles that help exfoliation, and also retain a considerable amount of water in order to create a good lather. Do you recommend them?

To me, Black is the softest of badger. Great for creams and soft soaps. Really loads up! Not good for exfoliation and hard soaps.

Black is the pure badger. It's the least selective of the hair and is known for having loads of backbone and being very scratchy.

Thanked: 2027Black is the lowest grade badger hair,Black badger hair is solid, unlike the prime silver tip from the neck area of a prime winter pelt.
Silvertip is the hair of choice because it is hollow,it retains water and heat, why is it hollow? some of these animals in northern climes Hibernate,The hollow hairs in the neck area retain the animals body heat, think insulation, they insulate the blood flow thru the animals carotid arterys that brings blood to the head, very important to keep the brainbox warm when it is 60 below zero.
These same qualitys make badger hair perfect for shaving brushes.Have a nice day
