Thanked: 88Mine is a mix of tail and mane hair. It has more backbone than my pure badger brush at a similar loft and is much softer on my face. Granted the pure badger brush wasn't expensive, but either was the horse brush. Also, the horse didn't die in the production of my brush, which may or may not be a big deal to some people.

For a change. They are a bit different from boar brushes. a little softer but with significant backbone strength. Mane hair is softer than tail hair also.
They are the only alternative to bristles since I don't like synthetic hair and badger hair is inappropriate for shaving brushes. (I know, you want to shoot me )

Horsehair knots. Any ideas ?
It's the Variety of shaving experiences. It's the excitement of the experience. Why just use the same brush, and the same soap, and the same razor every day. It's like a bee going to a flower. It don't go to the same one everytime. There's just so many of them.
(or was that about dating??)

I would be happy to make a handle for anyone who needs it. I have brushes and brush/mug sets at Etsy, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to give the link under SRP rules since I don't have enough posts yet.

I wondered that my own self. I've been perfectly happy with badger. Then, of course, I found that the question had been answered.
