I've often felt myself bristling with unspoken sympathy for this superb line of brushes. Floppy? Flacid? Spineless? Harumphh. If required to give up my Kent BK4 or my Thater 2 band.....well no question that the Kent stays. I started with a stiff Simpson 34 years ago and I frequently rotate through a strong lineup that includes a Rooney Heritage super, Simpson Polo in super, Chubby in best (baby's got back(bone)), Thater 2 band, and others of varying stffness, scritchiness or whatever you call it. I can lather Mitchell's wool fat soap as easily with the Kent as any other. Luxurious and certainly different.

Viva la difference, I say. Kent lovers, stand up and be heard. For those who enjoy lathering with boar, porcupine, and sandpaper.....well, enjoy :-). Peace. J

Porcupine - I like that. Add some 'prickly' to your Proraso.

BK4 it is! It's $92 on Amazon and I say that's a good price unless anyone knows of a better deal. Thanks jleeg!

Oh man, that is a good price! Better than the UK even.... these brushes are made locally and yet we still have them here for £105 roughly! Ouch!

I love my BK4! Just used it this morning and I can lather anything I want with it. It may take a little loger to load, but I not in a hurry!

I got 2 bands and 3 band silvertips and also and 3 boars and best from simpsons which aint made to be soft... But when I want pure soft luxury I find myself reaching for my BK4.

I have a Kent BK12 and while the quality is definitely there, I find the brush too large. the BK8 might really be a good choice.

I just recently received a Bk8 and it is wonderful, i don't find it too "floppy" although it its very soft.

Also, any other great silver tip alternative brushes you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!
Hi, yeh I love mine, its not so soft that I would call it floppy, I mean when its fully loaded, and it loads so much lather that I can fill my bowl a few times - i feel like I need to save some for next time - the thing I found most surprising is that the hair is so fine on its tips that it stings the first few times I used it. - I have a really stuff boar brush that I use first as the Kent really is so soft that its more of a "painting brush" than an "exfoliating brush"

    Snakebite,
Through the years I have floated through a field of badger shaving brushes from Simpson to Kent, Shavemac to Thater. None has combined strong backbone with silky tips the way Thater silvertip does. So I suggest trying Thater brushes. Two or three-band silvertip, they help make for a sweet shave.
