Default Kent silver tip brushes anyone?

So I've been using tweezerman's badger brush for about 3 years now. It did the job while it lasted but I'm looking into buying Kent's BLK8 (silver tip). I figure if I'm going to buy a brush I might as well get something that works well. Do any of you have/ had any Kent shaving brushes and if so, what do you think about their quality? Also, any other great silver tip alternative brushes you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!

I don't have nor have I used a Kent brush, but they have the reputation of being extremely soft and very 'floppy' i.e. flexible hairs.

Also, I think all of their brushes say 'pure badger', but they are apparently all silvertip. Just different sizes. That's all I've heard about them. High quality, but with very specific characteristics.

I have one but it is small with short loft so it has backbone. From what I've heard they do seem to have floppy brushes. Quality wise from my experience it's as good as any other name brand out there. Nothing special except the box. They do have very nice boxes.

Is "floppy" a good thing? My tweezerman was pretty stiff and its my first brush I've ever purchased so I wouldn't know if that is a good thing or not. Thanks again gents!

It depends who you ask. Personally, I hate floppy but some like it. I think, in general the connotation of floppy is not complementary to a brush.

I had a Kent BK4, about half the size of a BK8 and I tried to learn to like it. Soft, floppy and I like scritchy with backbone. I finally put it in the BST and sold it. If you like a very soft brush with very little or no backbone get a BK4. I can't even imagine what an 8 would be like. Better yet, a Thater 2 band. It is soft with no scritch but it has mucho backbone.

What's the difference between two band and regular on the Thater's?

I've never had the regular, just the two band. I'm under the impression that the two band has more backbone but I cannot say from experience. Just what i heard.

Others prefer the term 'cloudy soft luxuriousness'. It really depends on personal preference. Myself, I like a bit of backbone. My Thäter three-band gives me pretty much the right amount, a bit less than my New Forest two-band.

My Kent (about 7 years old now) has "T4" written on it, so I presume that's similar to a BK4.
Is that one a silver tip too? It feels very soft on the face and I would like to think it is a silver tip.
Although I have to admit, I have dreamt of a BK8 before...
