Thanked: 37I have a Semogue 830. Love it!

I too have the Semogue 830 and it fast becoming my everyday brush. I use soaps mainly and tend to face lather, so the 830 provides a nice mix of stiffness and softness as the tips continue to break in. On the softness meter, it almost rivals my Muhle silvertip badger which I use with creams.
I just received a Semogue 1438 today, and it feels real stiff out of the box....something I was looking for. I'm anxious to see how it works after it's had a couple of dozen shaves under its belt. I'm also expecting a Semogue Owner's Club in the next day or two. I hear those are also on the stiff side and get better after a couple of dozen shaves. I'll keep you posted on both.

You would think with all the wild boar running around Florida we would have more to choose from
If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.

I bought a 22mm TGN boar brush for $8.95 and made a handle for it just to see what it would be like since I hadn't used a boar brush before. I was amazed because I thought it would feel like a broom; however, it's as soft as their finest badger with a little bigger hairs. It doesn't hold as much water, but holds plenty of lather for me and lathers all my soaps, even the harder ones, better and quicker than all the badger hair brushes I've got. I love face lathering with the boar hair for my Monday morning shaves with a 2 1/2 day beard growth. The smell takes a little longer to go away than a badger brush, but it's not that noticeable for me. Definitely was surpised.

Both Semogue and Omega make quality boar brushes. Omega tend to be a little cheaper (though there are Semogues for under 15 bucks), while Semogue has different grades of boar bristle which have different traits ( the 620 series has their stiffest hair, while the 1305 has the softest) which let you choose a brush based on your preferences.

I got the Semogue Owner's Club brush about a month ago and I've been using it exclusively since receiving it...you know...to break it in. All I can say is this brush is a keeper! It blooomed wonderfully after only a few shaves and continues to soften at the tips while still maintaining (the much desired) backbone. Now to break in the Semogue 1438....
