Default Is it weird to loan a brush?

I have a friend who wants to break free from the shackles of his electric after I was explaining to him that I use a straight and a DE before that. I have a DE and some soap for him to try out but I was wondering if it's weird to loan him one of my brushes. On one hand it seems unsanitary but I dunno... I was also thinking about buying him one of those cheap boar brushes from Walgreens.

Have you guys ever tried to get someone into this "sport"? What did you do?

I am working on swaying a few to real steel.

That is the brush I started with and am currently still using, I do not think it is a bad brush and it has tamed down with use if that makes sense.

I did wash it extreamly welland used conditioner on it at first.

    Hope that helps a little.

Totally agree with Pfries, i have the same brush, it was a gift from my son so i had to use it, and once it broke in it was fine. I still use it so i would say go ahead and buy him one, personally i wound'nt lend a brush to anybody.

If he's your friend, by all means pick up some quality soap & a brush. I usually gift Tweezerman badger brushes or have a friend to turn one out for me if he has time. THe soap I gift is Proraso because it works well in any water, hard or soft.

I don't loan brushes personally for sanitary reasons. How many times have you had a weeper or nick that you have lathered over? MANY times for most SR users. If he's your friend, pick up a brush and some good soap for him...that's the first step to winning them over.

I picked my 16 year old nephew up a cheap brush from Walgreens and used a conditioner on it with hot water and Softened up just fine. He's still using it today

Target carries a pure badger brush by shea moitsture, and I have had mine for about 2yrs now, and still love it. It will lose a few hairs at first, but once it breaks in, it happens pretty rarely. For about $11 it's a good deal, especially in a pinch like this.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

My opinion is this. If the brush you want to give him is the example of one you would like to use them just clean it really well. If there is a brush similar that you want to give them then if it is in your budget then just pick up a new one..
I hear that there are some really great brushes but they are similarly expensive. That is the tough choice. Getting a new brush that is in your budget might be a great option. If not and the one you have..you really feel that they would enjoy it...just clean it really well.

It's only weird if you fall in love with the guy you lent the brush to.

It depends on you. I suppose if the brush is properly cleaned it's not an issue and many feel that way. Personally I would never use any used brush and many feel that way too.
