Thread: need a new brush

Well don't really NEED a new one, but i have a re-enlistment bonus coming up and want a new brush. I'm trying to choose between either a Simpson or Kent (until someone brings up another brand thus complicating my decision even further), any opinions? Don't want a huge brush, my current brush is a Thater two band and i love it. How big is the knot on a Simpson chubby compared to other brushes?

Probably more in the middle, some days i like my nice soft thater some days my scratchy pure black badger. I'm really not hard to please lol, was mostly wondering how everyone else felt about the brushes that were their favorites.

I think a good Simpson would be a good choice. I know thesuperiorshave.com has a lot of then and good descriptions. I think the "tulip" is suppose to be in the middle.

The is probably a little bigger than the biggest thater. And from what I hear it is a soap hog.

Well, I don't know what size your Thater 2 band is or what the Chubby is like but the best brush I have is a Simpsons QE II Jubilee Manchurian badger. This will give you an idea of the size Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Brush . Just love this brush for face lathering soaps and creams. It has a nice balance between being soft on the face but with enough backbone. Not too far behind it is an SOC 2 band badger for quite a bit less. That might be another one to consider too. Anyway, those are my two favourite badgers so far.

Well, if you're getting a reenlist bonus that means you're flush with cash so there is only one brush to get and that's a Plisson.

My favorite is one that I made with my own dainty digits. Best badger.

that might still be a bit much for me (at least the ones i looked at).
Still have a couple weeks to narrow down my search though

I'm on a T&H binge right now. Touting them all over the place... LOL. They have fabulous Rooney silvertip brushes (while they last) and they're terrific all-rounders. Luxurious, and simply great brushes for the money - an excellent buy.

Sinnfein; for starters, congrats on you extended service, I'm on the tail end of my Military Career. If I had a bit of extra cash or wanted to do something special, or get something special for myself( as I'm currently having one of the amazing artists on this forum make a matching set for me, brush and razor) id get a custom one made. This way your imagination can run wild, and it would probably cost you a third of what some of the high end brushes do. That's just my opinion. The materials you could have it made in are endless.
