I have a WhippedDog silvertip badger. Under $30 all glued together and everything. I really like it. Also, I have a Kingsley pure badger brush that I have been happily been using for 4 years, also under $30.

Thanked: 2027As above, true, it is not rocket science.Any Brush will work,is nothing more than an applicator that will serve you well for many yrs.
But like custom one off Razors, custom brushes are costley to create.
The big guns like Simpson or Rooney can extrude or CNC plastic handles by the thousands for pennys.
They set knots at lofts to cover a broad spectrum of users (bowl latherers and face latherers) and believe it or not one loft will not work well for both, optimally.
Case in point,I made this brush yesterday,Is a clone of a Simpson Colonal,The Knot is a TGN Grade A, 30mm. The knot cost me $45.00.
The handle material is arctic green Micarta (hate turning the stuff) Cost was maybe a couple bux at most.
The time involved? several hrs,The result is a brush that is the only one of it's kind.
Will this brush work any better than a cheap generic? Nope.

Thanks for all the great advice! I'll probably buy something already assembled but the DIYer in me is itching to make a one-off now.
Heck if I can make tube amps, I can glue stuff together, right?
