Either the Vie Long horse hair or the Simpson Special would be a good choice. Maybe think about the size of the handle if you have large hands or use the soaps. Good luck.

Well that's what I went for. Something tells me I'm going to go a little (ahem) overbudget as this one is one of at least 2 more I will be trying in the coming months.

Amazon.com: Vie-Long 04312 Professional Horse Hair Shaving Brush, Metal/Wooden Handle: Health & Personal Care

    And free shipping to boot!

I am going to say my next 50 dollar move is a 30mm grade A knot from TGN. I can come up with something cool to set it in! In fact, I have a plan!

The one my Grandfather showed me how to use, sadly lost to time, I would pay much more than 50.00 to have it back.

WSP Prince 2 band or 3 band. Incredible value for the money.

For 50 bucks my recommendation is a Semogue 830 (a tad over 20 bucks), a cake of MWF and a bottle of Clubman. I have a couple of expensive badgers, but I can whip up a great lather with my cheap 830.

if I had to pick 2 of my brushes to use only, my ideal stable would be an Omega 11047 mixed badger/boar brush, and a Whipped Dog 30mm silvertip knot in one of their handle options. The omega because its small (so ideal for travel, it fits in the Simpson travel tube), has good backbone, and yet is still soft. I just recieved my Whipped Dog silvertip brush and it is the softest and also most dense brush I have by a long shot, but it is large, holds a ton of water so its not very economical with soaps/creams, so for me having both of those would satisfy almost any scenario I could come up with as far as brushes go. And both could be had for under $50.

Thats true, but it's a lot personal, and not rocket science

I have a WhippedDog silvertip badger. Under $30 all glued together and everything. I really like it. Also, I have a Kingsley pure badger brush that I have been happily been using for 4 years, also under $30.
