    I make pipes (as well as other stuff), and the coloring is typical. Left to its own devices, briar will darken with age and skin oils. That's a very nice piece. Briar sometimes has inclusions as it's a burl. Uncovering one of these after literally hours of sanding a pipe can be a real heartbreaker.
