I totally agree. The only woods I'm putting a plastic finish on anymore are woods with no natural oil.

My vote is the oil finish, and I do find a certain appeal to the more natural less shiny vs what would be the CA finish.

Nice looking piece by the way!

I love the finish. I am a big believer in linseed oil for a finish. I had finished a bunch of gun stocks in linseed oil with excellent results!

Speaking of gun stocks... I used tru-oil gunstock finish on the maple brush. Figured if it would keep a hunting rifle good it should work for a brush.

Tru-oil is great stuff. Is linseed with a dryer in the mixture.Only problem with it if used on light colored woods it will yellow it.

A better solution can be made using windsor & Newton Refined Linseed (artist supply stores) Is clear in color.
Cut it 33% with Lighter Fluid (Naptha) and you have tru-oil.

Boiled Linseed Oil is a very good product
If your wood has some grains this will help to show it better.
Some attention only when soaking in boiled water,no need for the handle to be on it.
