Maybe a good combing with a pet comb would do the trick. Might help pull some of the glue off the hairs and bring it back to its original form. Never actually done it but it might be worth a shot. I know when they use to hand tie badger knots they would comb the hair quite frequently during the process.

Good idea. Besides the spots where you can see a little wood on the base it's actually pretty glue free there. I was quite lucky

Marine grade is a joke,some advocate that,WHY.
Marine grade epoxy will set up under water,has nothing to do with water resistance after it is cured,is the same as non-Marine grade.
I have never set a knot under water.
I have set many hundreds of Knots,to my Knowledge,non have fallen out.

So what would Davy Jones do when he makes a brush and has to set a knot in his locker???

I hope he uses a stainless razor. Course it would prob corrode very slow down there
