Thanked: 2284I've used beet root juice for dying bowls I've turned on the lathe before. It works well and I'm willing to bet it would dye boar hair without a problem.

Thanked: 1587I reckon it will work too, just a question of how long it will last. Though I suppose as (if) it fades you can just re-dip.

Thanked: 1184Unless you start using this troll daily (which I can see Ed doing) you can color the hair with Koolaid. I think this is what little girls do to their hair.
Plaster comes to mind when I think filling and then drill a hole for the knot. I would just trim that wild hair so the new knot sort of sticks out of it. All depends on the troll your going for. Punk troll ? Disco troll ? Cowboy troll would be my favorite.
If we are going to have a troll brush club let me know. I will get started now. I have a fresh knot :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 2284That knot looks like it's not set to deep Ed. I'd take that hack saw and cut it right in half about 25mm from the top of the brass. Then just try and split the wood grain with a flat screw driver and hammer. GENTLY. It should pop right in half. Stay down where theres more meat. Not up where the pocket is that holds the knot.
