Here's the donor. An old 1980's Viking cue. Warped at the forearm making it unusable for playing pool.

Here is a quick rough cut of the pieces to be used.

And compared to the VDH brush.
Now to strip, sand, drill for the knot and refinish them.
I'm gonna have a nice set of brushes
I'll add more pics as the progress goes

Pixel, as much as I agree with you, I have had this cue for years and its been sitting in a case not being used for years as well. I'm sure you know you can't straighten a warped piece of wood and this had enough of a warp to make it useless. So I've been wanting to repurpose this for years. It just so happened it'll work for this. And every time I shave, I'll think back to the money I won hustling with this cue

That is a good idea. I don't know how many broken cues I have thrown out.

Right on Pixel. Seeing as how this is a factory curls and not a custom, I'm not that attached.
Do you still make cues or shafts? I'm interested in an ivory ferrule shaft to match up with the ring work on a current cue I have...

Oh well can't win them all! Lol! I have a Tim Scruggs cue I picked up a few years back that had an aftermarket low deflection shaft on it. Original owner misplaced the original shaft and the cue has some ivory in it. I am a big fan of ivory joints, buttplates and ferrules. They have a softer yet powerful hit to them. I have an Allen Green cue with micarta and a Robert Harris with juma. I also have a Falcon BS-7 (Canadian made before they went to Taiwan) with ivorine in it, but the joint is a stainless. I also have an old Pechauer with ivorine joints.

A major help with this little project of mine. Didn't realize the golden nib is across town from where I work so I'm headed over Wednesday to take a look and pick up some knots! I'll I have left with the shorter of the two is to finish sanding and them pick a finish to seal it. I do have to say the cap piece I placed on the bottom is really rough. The drill bit walked a bit. Its just a lesson learned for next time. The larger one, I am looking for the right piece to use for the cap.

I think my history with projects and builds ( from cars, motorcycles, guitars and pool) will all have a hand in the next few brush projects I put together.
