Thanked: 45Found this too: Lignum Vitae | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwoods)
Also, I found something saying that real lignum has a green tint to it. Sound right?Let me know if you need any help with shaving, honing, etc.

Thanked: 2027Yes it has a green tint, but that will change over time.
Brush handle on the rgt is fresh turned, expose it to sunlght it will darken like the one on the left and the pce they are sitting on.
Lignum is 40% oil by wgt,as the oils oxidize the wood darkens, over 100 yrs it will be black.

That is a great looking combination. The ivory bits near the center band as well as on the other items are a really nice touch.

I have a LV brush made by Rodney Neep to celebrate the birth of my son, it has a 1/4 oz gold maple minted in 2013 (year of his birth) embedded in the base.
Such a lovely green tint all around (will post a pic).
This goes to him, along with my Wade 'Magnum Bonum' when he's of age.
