An opaque acrylic would take care of the knot.....I don't know about paint...is that what has been used in the past? Your work is stunning on the lathe and I'm still a big fan, so take this with a grain of salt as they say.
I've been chatting with Tom (Sharptonn) about this very thing. He gave me some ideas that I really liked, to finish the inside cup and hide that epoxy. I've also had a brief chat with another Brush maker about using clear epoxy, but even that you can still see so that doesn't really solve the problem. I will usually ask the owner what their preference is, which makes it easier on my end, but the next brush I do with my own guidance I'll be trying a suggestion Pixelfixed gave. Sanding to 400 or 600 which will give a brushed or opaque look. The last 2 brushes I have done have really showed off the epoxy on the inside, and I'm also not 100% sure I like it.

I basically said the same thing to Tom.

Andrew, you know I don't have to say what you know I would say when I see one of your brushes.
