The burls look great and that dark green acrylic is stunningly gorgeous. I find that, the more I look at them, combining the two draws the attention to away from a single attractive visual and forces one to "split" their focus. For me it is a distraction that takes away from the overall beauty, which is still quite attractive.

    I see the artistry, but . . .
It's a cool vacuum process that BWP uses. Bonding liquid resins to the endbits of burls and applying vacuum to eliminate air bubbles.
The results are quite stunning and allows using the entire burl. Comes in slabs of various thicknesses, opacities, and colours.
The ideas running around in my head for applications for this product,,,,,,
I've experimented with epoxy styrene for similar effect without satisfying results, hence no posts, hehe
I've been chatting with them trying to get some sent up here for testing and experiments.

Great work trimmy!!!! Really dig the flow of the third one personally.
    Cheers.

Thanks, Mike. That is really interesting, to say nothing of environmentally sound.

Mike, pretty sure BWP uses a product called Alumilite. I've looked into doing this, but I only find certain colors to be appealing to me. Here's a cool vid about it.

    Very cool.
How do they turn? Those are pricey blanks. I'd be afraid of making a mess of things.

I think they turn very nicely. I don't think you would mess one up, I've seen your off set turning's. Now that is something that I would be worried about messing up.

Nice brushes! The second one is my favorite, but I really like the spalted wood in the third one as well. Nice work.

The wood couldn't be used for much without the acrylic stabilization. The pieces mated with the acrylic are too roughly shaped to use on their own, and too soft (someone already mentioned the air bubbles).
It's interesting that you think they 'split' your focus. IMO they really compliment each other. We all have our own tastes though.
