Thread: 30mm Cocobolo/Moose antler

Really like this design. I'll probably be stealing it soon,.

As for color transfer, had this problem with American Holly segments (white and very porous). Use a thin coat of CA and allow it absorb into the wood or material. Be sure its dry before sanding.

Really like the handle size of this brush, the combo of cocobolo and antler contrasting colors is stunning. Very nice work!

I got the Osmo, but didn't have much choice Kyle. It was either the 3054 (Clear Satin) or the professional which is 5125. I believe the professional has a higher solids percentage than the regular. Expensive stuff though. Here in Canada it was $21.95 before tax for a dinky little can of 125ml. I think it's worth it though.

I can't remember what I paid, but it could have been more. Seems like anything made in Germany has a high price tag. I like the gloss, but I'd like to have both because that satin looks good!

How are you applying it, and how many coats did you do?

On my pens, I used one of those blue workshop paper towels. Most of them needed 3 coats because the wood sucked up a lot of it. I did very light coats at about 100 rpm. I'm probably going to strip the ca off of my cocobolo brush and apply this to it. How are you applying it??

I was putting a generous amount on with a paper towel, and letting it sit and soak in. I noticed that it hazed over quite quick, maybe 5-10 mins. I then took a clean paper towel and removed the access. Let that sit for a couple hours and di the process over. One thing that I've read is that it's a very forgiving finish, and there is no real trick to put it on.

Yea it seems to be very user friendly. Coming from trying to do ca finishes it's a dream come true! I've found that it needs at least 3 light coats, or 2 heavy coats to fully absorb. I'll be doing more experimenting with it this week since it supposed to be around 60 degrees F all week!

Another Mossterpiece!!

Finally....the brush is actually here!

After being mailed from Canada on 1/23 the brush got to Chicago on 1/25 and sat with a tracking status of "Processed Through ISC Chicago" for 11 days without changing. After 7 days I filed a missing package report. Wether that helped or not I will never know. The status finally changed yesterday after arriving a Springfield, Ma. then again today after being delivered.

Talk about snail mail!
The moral of the story is keep your eye on international shipments passing through Chicago and prepare to wait.

The other moral of the story is that if your package is a brush from HARRYWALLY (Andrew), it will be well worth the wait.
This brush is absolutely beautiful in person. The pictures don't hardly do it justice.

A big thank you to Andrew for his time and effort on what is sure to become a family heirloom.
