    Very true about the silicone. If you were to try and glue the knot permanently afterwards, you would have to sand the Epoxy plug thoroughly to remove any remnants of the silicone.

    Seeing silicone does not stick to silicone either, you would have to remove *all* traces of it in the handle in order to attach the next knot. I like the butyl tape idea.
