I coat the inside with a few coats of poly urethane, then glue the knots with waterproof epoxy.

This is some really nice work. Sorry to hear about the setback, but you have come back strong. It's hard to beat the look and feel of natural wood.
To wrap this up, I sent the remade handle to a gent in Oregon. He purchased knots and was looking for handles to fill. He received the handle the other day and sent a pic with the knot in. He is a happy fella. Attachment 278797
His loft after knot is set should have been around 57mm, which through a bit of research seems to be at the high end for a 24mm knot. I'm hoping this does not cause any floppyness for him. Thanks for looking guys.
