I always read about the font chosen for the book when I am finished (if available), never before, otherwise I might say something like....I can't read this....why didn't he/she demand Charter!

Yes, a wrong choice of font for body text can be the difference between a pleasurable read and a bumpy ride on a road of letters. And sometimes its a question of choosing some font that stands up well to your media, like in the case of dailies (where I work) newsprint. A too fine or fancy font can get lost and become uncomfortable at the point sizes usually on body text (9.5 to 10.5) more or less, depending on the font.
Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the exalted ones,
for that path is sharp as a razor’s edge, impassable,
and hard to go by, say the wise. Katha Upanishad – 1.3.14
