I've been quit for 12 years now. It was my fourth or fifth time trying to quit and this time it seems to be working a day at a time, nights and weekends too. I quit cold turkey and for me, a good estimate would be that I craved a cigarette with mind, body and soul 1000 individual times before it got better. The way I came up with 1000 is that I craved a cigarette about every 15 minutes, for about 17 waking hours a day, for about two weeks. Then it started getting better. Sometimes I still want one but it's pretty rare nowadays and I just don't want to go back there and have to do it all over again.
