I knew I had an affinity for Australia for a reason. You can't make that up. Also, I had no idea that American Football (Gridiron) was as well represented in Australia. For me as an American, football is as natural as well --apple pie ---(another saying: As American as Apple Pie) but always thought it was probably strange to people from other countries ---it probably appears very mechanized, maybe militaristic with formations and gear --not fluid like soccer or maybe Australian Rules football. But anyway , take it easy, mate.

Well, to be frank, it is a niche sport over here. But the superbowl is always telecast (and some of the other bowls as well), and a few years back we used to get most of the pro games late at night too. Not many Aussies actually play it, but there's enough to have state leagues.

Baseball is bigger here, I'd say.

You can't go wrong with baseball, mate. I think the Australian Little League team has represented itself well in the last couple of Little League World Series --but the Japanese usually win the International part. Yeah, baseball is one of those beautiful almost universally liked sports --it seems to be very popular in your neck of the woods. ( another local saying) --especially with the Pacific Islands. Later,
