Old and outdated eh? Sounds like some members around here.
I still have my ancient Sony Digital camera probably well over 10 years old. It's all I need.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Not that you need it they are just nice to have for me every picture is saved on each card. card 1 gets copied to the computer every day I shoot, card 2 does not leave the camera until the end of the month. when i'm sure all the pics I want are saved and archived it gets formatted. nice knowing that there are backups.
the 16gb card is fine and most likely will work great for you the real important bit is the speed class a slow card means missed pictures. when things are new that is the best time to get the upgrades, you know, before the wife realizes you don't need them

Haha. Thanks Jim. The wife handles the money so she knows where every cent goes.
This is the card I bought. Is it a slow one or faster? I am not up on cards on their relative speeds yet:

To put it in perspective back in the days of using film which I shot a lot of, that 128 GB card would have been the equivalent of 635 rolls of 36 exposure film. Wow!

The camera arrived yesterday and I did some test shots of the zoom at full auto.
Here are kids playing at the school behind my house at the lowest zoom (24mm):
This is with the camera at full optical zoom 1,000 mm (42x):
The same test here with a pine tree in the neighbors yard at 24 mm and 1,000 mm:
These are all handheld as well. The image stabilization software does a good job. I love this camera! My son is a Drill Instructor in the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, SC

I'm impressed too.
My old 9 mp Fuji was twice the price with half the wow factor & I bought it on sale .The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanks guys. I took a couple today of aircraft to see how it does at 1,000mm hand held on them and they came out pretty good as well.
