Purchased a new digital camera
My digital camera is old and outdated so I purchased this FujiFilm Finepix HS50EXR 16 megapixel yesterday from Amazon.
It's not a DSLR but I can't afford those high priced ones so this "bridge" digital camera should fit the bill fine with me. It has a 24-1000mm zoom range which is pretty incredible and boasts the fastest focus time of any digital camera. I am anxious to try it when it arrives. Someday I will spend more and get a Canon or Nikon DSLR but for now this should suit me just fine I think and the reviews have been positive overall.

Thanked: 1371That is quite the zoom range.
Does it have the ability for the user to adjust the aperture? If so, you may never need a DSLR.

Yes HNSB it has full manual controls as well as the ability to shoot in RAW mode.
The biggest advantage of a DSLR camera though is it's much larger image sensor which is why the photos are so much sharper.
DSLR's can be extremely expensive though especially for lenses. An 800mm Canon lens is $13,000 for instance. Of course the optics are superb and you are basically buying a hand held refractor telescope. Yes I used to be an astronomy buff as well.Last edited by ProudMarineDad; 10-07-2013 at 07:50 PM.

Thanked: 1371That's a pretty slick deal then.
All a DSLR would gain you is the ability to put faster lenses on, but unless you do a lot of low light or action photography that camera should cover whatever you need.

I agree my friend. At $378 plus $12 for a 16 GB memory card you can't go wrong.

Thanks Jim. I am waiting to see if I need another memory card or a larger one as I am not sure if anything larger is necessary. You have a 128 GB card? Wow!
According to a link I just looked at that card will hold 22,888 photos at 16 mega pixels each. I don't think I will ever need that large of a card.Last edited by ProudMarineDad; 10-07-2013 at 10:25 PM.
