    +1 to just about everything.

    For me a Winchester 30-30

And extensive structural and decorative wood work.

Didn't take long for the gun guys to jump on this one!

The cafetiere aka French press aka Bodum coffee maker. A simple tool that does one thing exceptionally well.

The Porsche 911. 50 years after the first ones rolled off the assembly line, the new ones are still instantly recognizable as 911s.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

LOL,,,I actually tried hard to think of something other than a gun,,, but my limited education & limited exposure to the finer things in life, brought my mind back to guns.

Heres a real obscure one. The Bridgeport Milling Machine
    Often copied never equaled.

My son was in the shop of a bicycle builder in Pittsburgh, Engin Cycles, and he said that the Bridgeport Milling Machine (which a lot of custom bike builders favor) is a machine that could build itself.....don't know if this is true or just an expression of the love for this workhorse of old.

Acutully not true, sadley I had to sell my bridgeport when we moved last year.I miss it dearly.
The lathe is called the queen of the shop for a reason, with milling attachments, you can make a mill with a lathe, but you cannot make a lathe with a mill.and you cannot make a mill without a lathe.
