"Please do not feed the dogs."
years ago I was cautioned not to use "beware of dog" by a lawyer as that could be construed to mean that I know that I am harboring a vicious dog. I had signs that said "please do not let the dog out", "do not feed the dogs" and "my dog can make it to the perimeter fence on 3.8 seconds, can you?" but I no longer have dogs (at least for now).
enjoy,
jimBe just and fear not.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I think I'm going with this option inspired by you all:
Beware!
Guard dog present!
I protect this house.
Trespassers will be bitten, burglars will be amputated!
Enter at own risk!

Sorry, but that dog in a picture won't scare anyone away.

How about this, "Very Horny dog, enter at your on risk.*. And at the bottom of the sign, "Owner not responsible for ANY dry-cleaning bills."

Ever seen a full grown bouvier up close?
Without an external frame of reference it may be hard to judge its size, and perhaps those dog are not common in the US. But that ain't no poodle sized dog. If I know people have a bouvier, I am not going to walk around the house to the back garden unannounced and that's a fact
Here you can see one being trained:
Over here, bouviers are more common. People classify them in the category of the 'scary dog' part of the animal kingdom, right next to the rottweiler and the doberman.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Indeed Bruno.
Bouviers are real working dogs. They excel in policework, manhandling, guarding etc. They are very friendly companions to their owners, but will without hesitation defend them when necessary. They are perfect family dogs. Great with kids, load of fun to have around, even though they are ... ehh... bulky sometimes when they see themselves as a puppy hehe. The best way to describe them is slower learning ( compared to Retrievers, German Sheppard ) but never forgetting what they have learned, can learn very well and a lot. Very stable and loyal dogs. They want to work for and with the owner. Be it hurdling cattle, pulling a milkcart, or guarding property.
Here are 3 of my Bouviers. Best dog in the world, but you don't want to stick your head over the fence, cause you will loose

Nice dogs.
Back to the signs, the best I've seen was "Never mind the dog, beware of the owner"
