    Reminds me a little of something I read in a flyfishing book. Seems the author was flyfishing for muskie and said he used a 9 weight rod with a metal tippet of some kind. He also used a length of rope as a fly and a .45 - when asked about the .45 he said it was to shoot the muskie in the head before pulling it into the boat. That's the closest I'll get to river monsters.

    I use a titanium leader when fishing for Muskies. I also would have leather gloves and the longest pliers I owned. The large hooks are just as dangerous as the fish's teeth.
