Of course, then there's the Chapman Stick world of standard tunings which still accomplish quite a bit. I actually saw a woman play one of those things and sing at the same time.
XBut you've proven there is a lot of talent out there.

Let's see Mr. X. Tony Levin use to play with King Crimson. I'm not quite sure what he's doing these days. He was a bass and stick player for King Crimson. Trey Gunn was playing with King Crimson but I believe he has his own band as well --I believe he plays a Warr guitar and maybe the stick. Here's some links but they might not be the best. http://www.treygunn.com/sound/index.html

My father was always trying to get me to listen to Court of the Crimson King, but I never had the patience. A few bars of it and all I could hear was how dated the sound was. He still upholds that tehy along with Uriah Heep are the best bands he's ever heard.

Yeah --I understand this --but the King Crimson of the 80's is nothing like the King Crimson of the seventies. The 80's stuff is a very technical/electronic type thing --Tony Levin started playing with them in the 80"s. A lot of these guys make money doing seminars and summer programs at universities or music schools. The Court of Crimson King is dated --but rest assured it doesn't give the entire scope of the band. Maybe check out Three of a Perfect Pair, Discipline, or Beat and any of the 90's stuff --I'm not sure what they're doing now.

Hey guys - I know this is different than the musicians you have posted so far, but I saw this and thought it was amazing...this guy's name is Jake Shimabukuros - he plays of all things the yukelele (don't know if that is spelled right). He plays a version of George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - he does an awesome job. Check it out:
