First off , can't help but think of Geezers post couple of days ago about carbon monoxide, seems there's been some more cases of it.

    Thanks Geezer for that post!

Now lined up at grocery store, huge lob laws store, it's packed, been here two hours already.

But drove by the house and a couple of hydro trucks just showed up, they said there were feeder lines down, they were going to work on it but no promises for today or tomorrow.

Did check the razors though and they are fine, soaps said they were ok as we'll, but the strops were absolutely miserable!!!

    Check in later....all the best!!

    Cheers!

Finally back in the house about two hours....house is absolutely frozen....granite counter tops are freezing my arms hahaha...what an adventure!!

Radiators on top floors are just starting to get water in them after bleeding them several times, figure about 12 hours to get the house back up. Emptied the fridge and freezers of about $1000 of food.

Now there's a wind warning for the GTA, so hoping all those trees that are still frozen don't knock everything out again.

Just goes to show you how true that saying is, society is probably no more than 3 square meals, adequate shelter and warmth, away from chaos.

Thank you for all the warm wishes!!!

It's shame for that much good food to go to waste...to rot in the fridge and freezer like that....such a waste.

We got a ice storm about 2-3 weeks ago. Took some folks in the more remote rural areas 10 days for power to return & the linemen worked nonstop & had a LOT of help from other power companies. I lost about half of my trees and just hope the other half will recover, especially my big old pecan...which took a beating.

Wow...sounds very similar....we just got power last night, house is still freezing...huge tree down in my backyard...but the city is covered with downed trees in the middle of roads, on top of cars, everywhere....unfortunately, a few people didn't listen to warnings, and brought their charcoal BBQ's in doors and died as a result, many with various carbon monoxide poisoning, and the inevitable people leaving candles on a leaving for a few hours...to come back to a fire in their house or apartment.

Having said that, as much of an inconvenience it was, and losing about $1000 worth of food we had for another family dinner this weekend, and then New Years, it was an adventure...something that craps your day during the experience, but look back on as an adventure.

As I said to my kids and others, huh, imagine that, everybody has to put down the smart phones, laptops, no TV / Cable as well, and actually talk with one another!! Once people stopped complaining, broke out a few board games, and had a great time...just goes to show you how much isolation we engage in and don't even realize we're doing it.
