    Default stupid cold

it was cold enough this morning (-14F or -25C) that the back door knob froze and I had to take it out in order to get it open. It's often colder than that but this was the first time I noticed a doorknob being frozen.

Yeah, that's getting down there. I remember one time, north of Fairbanks -- back in the early '70s -- it was so cold I lit a match and the flame froze.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

We used to do this just for kicks when I was in Korea. Then we would flick the flame with a finger nail just to watch it shatter.

Now this is a no BS story. Back in the days of the old starched(very heavy starch)cotton fatigues you could crack the fabric while doing morning PT exercises.

In International Falls Minnesota, the coldest place in the USA, it was minus 41F last week. Not as cold this week but plenty cold. The forecast for tonight is minus 11F and for Saturday dipping down to minus 38F and windy. Glad I don't live there.
